David Kim, General Manager
David came to us from the Cleveland Clinic - Abu Dhabi, where he was Director of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. David has a long history in procurement, having previously been the Global Supply Chain Manager for GCC & South Africa at Baxter, and a Logistics & Procurement Specialist with the United States Marine Corps.
David holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from American Intercontinental University.

Mark McGourty, Director
Mark is an experienced healthcare CEO with extensive experience in both venture capital and private equity-backed healthcare firms and top-tier academic medical centers in the United States, China and the Middle East. He has been Associate Hospital Administrator at the University of Pennsylvania Health System; Regional CEO and SVP of PeaceHealth, a $1.0 billion USD regional health system in the Pacific Northwest of the United States; CEO of two private equity backed healthcare companies in the MENA region and COO/GM of a PE-backed healthcare group in China bought by Singapore’s Parkway Health in 2008. A US national and certified Gemba Kaizen practitioner, Mark began his career as a Division Administrator at the University of Michigan Health System.
Mark holds a M.H.A. in Hospital Administration from The University of Michigan, USA, and a B.S. in Healthcare Management and Policy from Oregon State University, USA.
Ali Hashemi, Director
Ali is a healthcare strategist and a widely-consulted expert on healthcare in the countries of the MENA+T region. Prior to founding Avicenna Partners, Ali was the founding member and leader of the Middle East Healthcare Practice for Booz & Company, a top-tier international management consultancy, where he led healthcare strategy and investment advisory assignments for private equity, corporate, institutional and public sector clients across the Europe, Middle East and Asia, and across all major verticals including services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, devices and biotech. A United States national, Ali was previously based in New York City as a member of Bain & Company’s Healthcare and Private Equity practices. He currently serves as a member of Duke University’s Regional Advisory Board for the Middle East.
Ali studied Medicine and received his MBA concurrently from McGill University as part of a joint MD/MBA program. Ali also received a B.S.E. with Distinction from Duke University with a dual major in Biomedical Engineering and Religion and a minor in Chemistry.
Peyvand Khaleghian, Director
Formerly Director of Health Policy and Strategy for the Government of Dubai, Peyvand started his career as a physician but later spent eight years as a senior health economist and emerging markets healthcare specialist at the World Bank, four of them as Sector Leader in the bank’s Europe and Central Asia healthcare practice. A New Zealand national with healthcare advisory and investment experience spanning Asia, Europe and the Middle East, Peyvand is frequently engaged as a strategic advisor by investors, firms and governments looking to expand their footprint or improve their performance in high-potential markets; and as a Ph.D.-trained health economist with a deep understanding of regulatory issues, financing strategies and market risks, he often acts as an interlocutor between the public and private sectors on issues concerning market entry, investment appraisal, public-private partnerships and payer/provider relations.
Peyvand holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins University and M.B., Ch.B. and B.Sc. degrees from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
